WE WELCOME CHILDREN AT WORSHIP
We encourage you to bring children of any age to worship. Don’t worry if your children won’t sit still. We understand that is part of being a child. Feel free to move around. If your child needs to take a walk or get a drink of water, please feel welcome to tend to those needs. If you prefer to try our nursery, it is available for children up to three years of age.
NURSERY
The nursery at the Cathedral of Saint James is located on the main level of Cathedral House and is accessible to the Cathedral through the Chapel Hallway located in the southwest corner of the nave. The nursery is a place where parents can gather to watch their children play, as well as a place they can feel confident to leave their children, knowing they will be in a safe, secure and in a fun environment. The nursery is designed primarily for babies and toddlers; older children, such as siblings, are encouraged to attend the service with their parents. If you have any questions, stop by on Sunday morning and speak with the Nursery Staff. Nursery Hours: Sundays 9:15 am to the Passing of the Peace. The nursery is also available during other select events held at the Cathedral.
HANDICAP ACCESS
A wheelchair ramp into the Cathedral proper is located from the West Washington Street parking lot.
There is a chair lift to provide access to Cathedral Hall from the Courtyard Entrance on N Lafayette Blvd (between the Cathedral and Cathedral House.
OFFICE HOURS
The office of the Cathedral is located on the main level of the Cathedral House building. Office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
DIRECTIONS
The Cathedral of Saint James is located on the west side of downtown South Bend on the northeast corner of West Washington Street and North Lafayette Blvd. (GO TO GOOGLE MAP)
PARKING
SUNDAY MORNINGS: Parking is available in both of our lots. One on North Lafayette Blvd directly north of the Cathedral building proper. The other is on West Washington Street behind the Marathon gas station. Those needing handicapped access to the Cathedral should use the West Washington Street parking lot.
OTHER TIMES: There is limited parking available in the North Lafayette Blvd lot. The West Washington Street parking lot is reserved paid parking during the week. There is also limited 1 hour street parking available on Lafayette Blvd.
