The Dean's List

It's Time Change Weekend!
Don't forget to fall back before you go to bed on Saturday!

Intergenerational Formation This Sunday

Come learn a little bit about icons and make one of your own using cardstock and your imagination! Catherine Craker will lead us in this intergenerational morning of faith, fun, and creativity. We'll meet in Cathedral Hall from 9:15 am - 10:15 am.

The Doors

The old church doors - which weren't really all that old - needed to be replaced due to a design flaw that kept allowing the locking mechanisms to rust. After nearly a year in the works, our new red oak doors arrived on All Saints Day. Window panels in each door allow us now to see if anyone is coming up the steps before opening the doors, an important safety feature! They also allow much more light into our narthex (which everyone else in the world calls an entryway or vestibule).

Installation was done by Action Glass, and the trim work will be undertaken by Will Campbell. The doors are, in a word, beautiful :)

All Saints Sunday
The names of more than 500 beloved family members and friends who have gone into the nearer presence of Jesus currently line the walls of the Cathedral of Saint James. Each name was prayed aloud at our All Saints Day celebration on Wednesday.

An Update from the Grantz House
It's getting better. Tamisyn has now started physical therapy, so she's sore a lot, which is a good thing. Her improved mobility has allowed me to move back into my office or be out and about, which is also a good thing. Her right foot is still non-weight-bearing until at least December 1, after which she will increase use of her foot incrementally over the next several weeks. Practically, this means that her air cast remains on through the end of the year, which means no driving until early 2024. Her physical therapist is very optimistic about Tamisyn's future ability to resume hiking with the help of flexibility, adaptation, and orthotics. This was a relief to both of us.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Gather & Grow
The architect's plan for the new elevator will be presented to the Cathedral community on Sunday, November 12. You can choose one of two opportunities that morning to participate in Q&A and offer feedback: 9:00 am - 9:30 am and 11:45 am - 12:15 am. Both presentations will take place in the Church.

Diocesan Convention
The 125th Convention of the Diocese of Northern Indiana takes place tomorrow, November 4, at Saint Michael & All Angels Church in South Bend. The Cathedral will be represented by lay delegates Christopher Hillak, Celeste Hilliard, and Shela Raman-McCabe, as well as by Deacon Anne Wietstock and me. Please keep Bishop Sparks, our Diocesan Missioners, and everyone gathering for Convention in your prayers.

Blessings,
Brian
