The Dean's List

The Lull
Welcome to the mid-summer lull; that time when not much is happening program-wise at the Cathedral of Saint James and when many people are traveling during the summer break from school. If you're around, come worship with us on Sunday morning. Wear shorts and a t-shirt if you'd like. And if you have time, come to our somewhat informal Eucharist on Friday at Noon and join us for lunch at Grill 362 following.

Requiescat in Pace: Lenore Cassady
Lenore Cassady and her husband, Tom, were members of the Cathedral of Saint James in the 1950s. When Bishop Mallett formed St. Michael & All Angels Church at the old bishopric at the corner of Jefferson and Ironwood, the Cassadys were reassigned geographically from here to there, where they remained faithful in worship, fellowship, and leadership for decades to come. Tom, a perennially slender, tan, and charismatic gentleman, died in 2017. Lenore, who was the epitome of kindness and elegance while remaining both very human and approachable, died this past week at age 95 after a long illness. Lenore, if my feeble memory recalls correctly, was part of the Parish Discernment Committee that worked with me some 34 years ago as I considered my call to priesthood. If she was not actually on that committee, she was certainly "committee adjacent" in her encouragement of my ministry and warmth for Tamisyn and - at the time - our two young sons. May her soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her.

You can read Lenore's obituary here.

Blessings,
Brian
