Joseph Anand-Obleton

Joe joined the Cathedral staff in December 2022 as the Assistant to the Dean for Administration. Joe, a retired Navy Chief, moved to South Bend with his husband, Michael, in June of 2022, and he has a wealth of administrative, computer, and teaching experience. He is attending Harvard University remotely and is enrolled in the Master’s program in International Relations.

Joe’s hours at the Cathedral are Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., and he also works as the Missioner for Special Projects for the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana on Mondays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Fun Facts

  • Joe and his husband, Michael, were married at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea on Palm Beach.

  • Joe retired from the Navy; he retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service as a cryptologist, intelligence analyst, and linguist (Arabic).

  • Michael is a 32-year career language teacher, and he now works at The Stanley Clark School, teaching Latin, French, Spanish, German, and Italian. He has a Master's from Notre Dame, where he taught undergraduate Spanish in the 90s.

  • They have three children. Their son Adrian (31, married to his wife Harshita, living in Austin, TX); their son Manny (30, married to his wife Judette, living in West Palm Beach, FL); and their Daughter Aaleyah (26, living in Aiken, SC). They also have a dog, Pup (Joe’s service dog).

  • So Joe has a full schedule, going to school full-time while working two part-time jobs for both the Cathedral and the Diocese. He’s extremely grateful for these blessings and the welcome he’s received from the Cathedral and Diocese communities.
