The Dean's List

Thank You, Cindy Laney
I got in a hurry at the end of the 10:30 service last Sunday and neglected to thank Cindy Laney during announcements. Her homily reflecting on her experience in New York City on 9/11 was powerful and her theological reflection and call to unity were prophetic and astute. Thank you, Cindy, for your willingness to share what is real and true from the depths of your being.

Not Faire
Upon further consideration of a ministries faire to kick off a new program year, the Cathedral Chapter and I determined that it would probably be more effective to publish a catalog of sorts that might have a longer-lasting and farther-reaching impact. So far, the catalog is a list of every ministry I can think of going on at the Cathedral. It is included below.

Now, let's crowd source four things:
1) If there is an existing ministry that is not on this list, please let me know.
2) If there is a ministry that should exist but doesn't yet (like visitor follow-up or new member incorporation), please let me know.
3) If you are in charge of something on this list, could you please email me a one or two sentence description of that particular ministry along with who and how to contact someone for more information or to get involved, that would be exceptionally helpful.
4) If there is a ministry on this list that interests you, please let me know!

If you happened to be at the Cathedral one particular Sunday over the summer, you will remember that Sam Ssenggirinngo treated us all to Samosas, a delicious savory pastry with a central African flare.

Sam's cousin in Uganda died early last year. In addition to his own four children, Sam is committed to paying for his cousin's six children's education, which is not free in Uganda. To raise money for this effort, he is selling Samosas as an ongoing fundraiser, taking orders and making them twice a month.

The samosas are offered at $20 per dozen. They are available in either vegetable (peas) or meat. See Mtr. Tina Velthuizen on Sunday morning for more information or to place an order.
