The Weekend of the Fourth Sunday in Lent
(Year A, Lent 4)
March 15, 2026
The Dean's List
Beware?
A weekend that includes Friday the 13th and the Ides of March? What could go wrong? For what it's worth, I am neither superstitious nor triskaidekaphobic. Today is my father, Gene Grantz's, 91st birthday and my daughter-in-law's, Mackenzie Keller's, 30-somethingth birthday, so it's actually a quite a good day in the Grantz household.
Scam Alert
Except for this. If you get an email from fake me - easily recognized by using the title "Bishop," not to mention yet another request for gift cards, which I will never, ever ask for - just ignore it. If you're feeling feisty, you can report the sender's email address to Google.
Prayers for Active Duty & Reserve Military
In this time of open conflict abroad, we ask your prayer for those who serve in the armed forces, both active duty and reserves. Please see the prayer list below for the names of those who have a connection to the Cathedral congregation. If you know someone whom you would like to add to the list, please send an email to Deacon Clay Berkley.
Thank You for Your Prayers
I am feeling much better after last weekend's bout with whatever it was. This week I am lying a bit low following a wee bit of oral surgery on Tuesday that has made for an interesting week in terms of talking (and eating). Someone, I won't say who (although his initials are Mike Jaworski), felt that my relative silence was a gift from God to my spouse. If he weren't correct, I might be offended :) In any case, thank you for your prayers. I'm feeling almost normal today.
Holy Week & Easter
The schedule for Holy Week & Easter is posted below. St. Patrick's & St. Hedwig's has new clergy leadership this year who have not, thus far, responded to my emails about continuing our traditional joint Liturgy of the Palms and Palm Sunday procession. I'll try one more time :)
As has been our practice for the past several years, the Great Vigil of Easter will be a shared liturgy involving all of the area Episcopal Churches. We will gather on Saturday, April 4 at St. Michael & All Angels Church on N Ironwood Rd for the Vigil beginning at 8:30 pm. Bishop Doug Sparks will preside and Mother Jen Fulton will preach. Dr. Steve Wietstock is putting together a pick-up choir (contact him here if you are interested) for the occasion. The Cathedral congregation is asked to contribute fruit and/or veggie trays for the Easter Feast following the Vigil.
Blessings,
Brian

☩ World, National, and Local Community Concerns
For and end to racism in all its forms, that discrimination and violence may end. We pray especially for people of many faiths whose communities are often targeted in hateful attacks, and we pray that those with bigotry in their hearts may come to see, know, and respect the diginity of all human beings.
In our Nation, currently torn by fear, oppression, and strife, may Christ bring peace, healing, and unity. For peace and resolution of conflicts both at home and abroad.
How may we pray for you? To add (or remove) a petition from the Cathedral Prayer List, please send an email to Deacon Clay Berkley. If you are requesting prayer for someone else, please make sure you have their permission to add their name and any details to the prayer list.
