Will you continue in the Apostles’ teaching and fellowship…?
Just a quick shout out from the first promise of our Baptismal Covenant to remind us of the primacy of relationship and the need for continual exploration of faith together in community. Fall will soon be here, and with it renewed opportunities to participate in intentional Christian formation all age groups. Our offerings for adults include Sunday morning Adult Forum; Education for Ministry—either a 4-year, in-depth program or a 1-year overview; Ecumenical Bible Study; and a series of Short Courses on the Christian faith, the Bible, and the Episcopal Church. Watch for more information in the coming weeks on opportunities for children, youth, and adults to gather and grow in faith, hope, and love.
Pub Crawl
Meaning, of course, the slow conversion of Publisher (pub) files to pdf, which the Cathedral needs to do in order to archive a bevy of bulletins, a nest of newsletters, and a score of signs in an accessible format since Microsoft is mothballing Publisher on October 1. If you are interested in an important volunteer gig between now through the end of September, we could use your help :)
A Concert for Unity
Every year, musicians across the world participate in Sing for Unity, a global musical event held in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. Together, musicians create a “sound wave of hope, unity, peace, and global community” that spans the globe through the gift of music.
As part of this worldwide celebration, Zion Community Church is pleased to host A Concert for Unity on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of Zion Community Church, located at 211 S. St. Peter Street, South Bend, Indiana. There is no admission charge for this concert, and performers will not be compensated. Your participation is a gift offered in the spirit of peace and community.
We invite local musicians of all ages and backgrounds to join us by sharing a musical selection that reflects the themes of peace, hope, unity, or reconciliation. Whether you perform as a soloist, ensemble, choir, or instrumentalist, your music will be a meaningful gift to our community and a contribution to this worldwide movement for peace.
If you would like to participate, please email Zion Community Church at zionsb@zionsb.org no later than September 10, 2026, with the title of the piece you would like to perform and what your performance is (solo, choir, instrumental, etc).

Prayer Service to End ICE Detention
at Miami Correctional Facility
Dear Friends in Faith,
The weekend of August 28th, 29th, & 30th, Hoosiers across Indiana are rising in a powerful, unified public witness with a goal of holding 50+ prayer vigils to end the crisis of ICE detention at the Miami Correctional Facility. Right now, our state is holding approximately 600 immigrant men—the vast majority of whom have no criminal record—inside a state-run, maximum-security prison plagued by a staffing shortage, lack of medical care, and a tragic record of two detainee deaths earlier this year. While officials promise “built-in profit” on a contract that appears to have actually lost taxpayer money, local families are being torn apart, leaving traumatized U.S. citizen children and spouses in a desperate scramble for basic survival. Since Miami Correctional is a state-run facility, this injustice belongs to every Hoosier.
You are invited to participate in a prayer service at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in South Bend on Sunday, August 30 beginning at 4pm.
This prayer service is one of many public witness events being held across Indiana that weekend, as people of faith come together to say clearly: Detention and inhumane treatment of our immigrant neighbors must end.
